Welcome to the Order of Reddere...
The Order of Reddere is a civic and ceremonial honour society founded to recognise and uplift individuals whose lives are marked by quiet service, public duty, and the enduring spirit of giving back. Rooted in historical traditions of remembrance and inspired by the quiet dignity of those who serve without seeking acclaim, the Order exists to affirm that the true nobility of character lies not in title or wealth, but in action, humility, and compassion.
Through symbolic recognition, ceremonial investiture, and the preservation of good deeds in our Book of Deeds, the Order of Reddere honours those whose contributions—often unseen—have made the world kinder, fairer, and more just.
This website serves to share our history, values, and work whilst inviting others to nominate, get involved or support in a meaningful way. Whether you are visiting as a guest, a prospective nominee, or a member of the Order, we invite you to explore the spirit and purpose that guide us.
A Message from the Lord Chancellor

Dear visitors and members,
It is my honour to welcome you to the official website of the Order of Reddere.
The Order exists to recognise and elevate those whose lives are shaped by service, duty, and quiet generosity. In a world that often celebrates the loudest voices and grandest titles, we stand instead for the enduring value of character—the acts of kindness given without expectation, the responsibilities carried with humility, and the lives led in the service of others.
Founded not on nobility or inheritance, but on the idea that dignity is earned through giving back, the Order draws its inspiration from a lesser-known historical tradition: the parish clerks of centuries past, who in the margins of burial registers quietly recorded not only names, but the goodness of lives that might otherwise be forgotten. Their inscriptions—simple, honest, and enduring—preserved the memory of service long after the final rites were spoken. The Order of Reddere inherits this legacy.
Today, we continue their work by recognising those whose contribution to society is worthy of remembrance—individuals who embody the principle of reddere, Latin for “to give back.” Through ceremonial investiture, civic engagement, and charitable support, we seek to build a society of honour—not in status, but in spirit.
Whether you are a visitor, a supporter, or one whose deeds have been nominated for recognition, I welcome you warmly. May you find in these pages a reflection of all that is quiet, noble, and good.
With respect and in faithful service,
Daniel Ruscoe GCoR, DMR
Lord Chancellor of the Order of Reddere
Nominate Someone – Recognition in the Order
The Order of Reddere exists to celebrate those whose lives are defined by service to others, quiet generosity, and moral character. Our honours are conferred not for fame or fortune, but for values lived.
Through a formal nomination and review process, individuals may be considered for admission to the Order, posthumous recognition, or receipt of a commendation or symbolic honour. Every name proposed becomes part of a long-standing tradition of honouring those who give back.
